Container History

View a chronological audit log of every status change, location update, and hire event for a container.

What container history records

Every time a container is edited — whether the status changes, the address is updated, a hire-out is recorded, or a return is processed — an entry is added to the container history log. This creates a full, time-stamped audit trail of the container's movements and status changes.

History log entries

Each history entry shows the following information.

Accessing the history

The container history is available on the container detail page via the History tab or section. It is displayed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent event at the top.

Using history for compliance

The container history log provides documentary evidence that containers were tracked and managed appropriately. In the event of a dispute about hire duration, container location, or damage, the history provides a timestamped record of every change.

History is immutable
Container history entries cannot be edited or deleted. Once a change is recorded it becomes part of the permanent audit trail. Correcting a mistake requires making another update, which will appear as a separate history entry.
Use history to resolve billing disputes
If a customer disputes their hire duration, the history log shows exactly when the container was dropped (Hired Out event) and collected (Returned event) with timestamps. This is a reliable reference for invoice queries.
History begins from when you start recording
History entries are only created from the point at which you begin using QWTN. There will be no historical data for containers added retrospectively unless you manually create update events.
Common Mistakes
Expecting to see a full history for containers added before you started using QWTN — only changes made within the system are recorded.
Looking for a deleted container in the history — once a container is deleted, all its history records are also removed permanently.
