Search & Command Palette

Find notes, clients, sites, and more instantly with the Cmd+K command palette.

1. Press Cmd+K
2. Type your search
3. Browse results
4. Press Enter to open

1. Opening the command palette

Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) from anywhere in the app to open the command palette. You can also click the search bar in the dashboard hero or the search icon in the sidebar. The palette opens as a centred modal overlay with a text input ready for typing.

2. How search works

Start typing at least two characters and results appear after a short delay. The search queries your notes, clients, sites, collections, team members, containers, invoices, fleet vehicles, maintenance records, and permits. Results are grouped by category and limited to three per group so you can scan them quickly. The search is case-insensitive and matches partial words.

4. Module-aware results

Search results respect your enabled modules. If you have disabled the Fleet or Invoicing module in Settings, those categories will not appear in results. Core categories — notes, clients, sites, collections, and team — are always included.

5. Recent items

When you open the command palette without typing anything, your most recently visited items are shown. Selecting a search result automatically adds it to your recent items list for quick access next time.

Search from anywhere
The Cmd+K shortcut works on every page in the app. You do not need to navigate to a search page first — just press the shortcut, type, and go.
Minimum two characters
Search requires at least two characters before querying. Single-character searches are ignored to avoid overly broad results.
Common Mistakes
Searching for a single character and expecting results — type at least two characters to trigger the search.
Looking for a disabled module's data — if you have turned off a module in Settings, its records will not appear in search results.
