Client Locations

Add multiple site locations per client with addresses, map coordinates, and site-specific contacts.

1. Open client detail
2. Click + Add Location
3. Fill in details
4. Place pin on map
5. Save

1. Why use client locations?

Many clients operate from more than one site. Client locations let you record each site separately with its own address, postcode, map coordinates, and contact person. When creating a waste transfer note or scheduling a collection, you can select the specific location instead of using the client's main address. Locations also appear on the Map page for route planning.

2. Viewing locations

Open any client's detail page and scroll to the Locations section. A badge shows the total number of locations. Each location is displayed as a card showing the label, address, postcode, and contact details if set. The default location is marked with a badge. If a location has map coordinates, a small map pin indicator appears on the card.

3. Adding a location

Click the "+ Add Location" button to open the location form in a side drawer. Fill in the location name (required) and optionally the address and postcode. Click on the map to place a pin at the exact coordinates — this is required so the location appears on the Map page. Add site contact details and notes if needed, then click Save.

4. Editing and deleting locations

Click the edit button on any location card to reopen the form drawer with the existing details pre-filled. Make your changes and click Save. To delete a location, click the delete button on the card and confirm in the dialog. Deleting a location does not affect any notes or collections that were previously linked to it.

5. Default location

You can mark one location per client as the default. The default location is automatically selected when you create a new note or collection for that client. Setting a new default automatically unsets the previous one. If no default is set, you will need to choose a location manually each time.

6. Locations on the map

All client locations with coordinates appear on the Map page as coloured pins. Each client's locations share the same colour so you can see at a glance which sites belong to which customer. Click any pin to see the location details and collection statistics.

Add access notes for drivers
Use the Notes field to record access instructions like "Enter via the rear gate" or "Report to reception on arrival." This information helps drivers find the right entrance when visiting unfamiliar sites.
Existing clients get a default location
When the locations feature was introduced, a default "Main" location was automatically created for every existing client that had an address on file. You can rename, edit, or add more locations as needed.
Map pin is required
You must click the map to set coordinates when adding a location. Without coordinates, the location will not appear on the Map page and cannot be used for route planning.
Common Mistakes
Forgetting to place the map pin — the form requires coordinates. Click on the interactive map to drop a pin at the location.
Creating duplicate locations with slightly different names — check existing locations before adding a new one.
Not setting a default location — without a default, you will need to manually select the location every time you create a note or collection for this client.
