1. What is the Free Note Generator?

The Free Note Generator at qwtn.co.uk/notes/new lets anyone create a legally formatted UK Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note (WMC2A) without creating an account. It is a guided step-by-step form that walks through all five sections. At the end, you can print the note or save it as a PDF. No data is stored on QWTN servers — it exists only in your browser session.

2. Rate limiting

The free generator allows one note per day per device. After you print a note, a cookie is set (qwn_anon_date) that blocks further notes until midnight. If you need more than one note per day, you must sign up for a QWTN account. The rate limit screen shows a progress bar at 10/10 and a link to create a free account.

3. Step 0 — Note type

Choose between a One-Off Note (single transfer) and a Season Ticket (multiple transfers between the same parties). The selected type controls how Section D is presented.

4. Step 1 — Section A (Waste)

Enter the waste description, select one or more EWC codes, choose containment types, and enter the quantity. All four are required to advance. A "Show guidance" button at the top of the page reveals help text for every field.

5. Step 2 — Section B (Transferor)

Enter the transferor's name, company, address, postcode, and at least one B3 role checkbox (producer, carrier, etc.). If the transferor is a carrier, the carrier registration number and type are also required.

6. Step 3 — Section C (Transferee)

Enter the transferee's name, company, address, and at least one C3 role checkbox (permit holder, carrier, etc.). If the transferee is a carrier, registration details are required.

7. Step 4 — Section D (Transfer details)

Enter the transfer address, date, time, and optional broker details. For season tickets, set the valid-until date.

8. Step 5 — Preview and Print

The preview step shows the fully formatted WTN document. Click "Print / Save PDF" to open the browser print dialog. This sets the daily-use cookie. Clicking "Start over" resets the form for a new note. A sign-up call-to-action is shown for users who want cloud storage, signatures, and templates.

No data is stored
Notes created via the free generator exist only in your browser. If you close the tab, the data is lost. Sign up for a QWTN account to save notes, request digital signatures, and access your note history.
Show guidance for field help
Click the "Show guidance" button at the top of the free note form to reveal help text for every field. This is especially useful if you are unfamiliar with EWC codes or the legal requirements for each section.
One free note per day
The free generator is limited to one note per device per day. If you need to create multiple notes, sign up for a free QWTN account which provides unlimited notes, cloud storage, and digital signatures.
Common Mistakes
Closing the browser before printing — the note is not saved anywhere, so closing the tab permanently loses the data.
Skipping B3 or C3 role checkboxes — validation requires at least one role for each party or the form will not advance.
Using the free generator for production use with multiple daily notes — the rate limit will block you after one note.
