Creating a Note

Use the PreviewEditor to build a complete, legally valid Waste Transfer Note section by section.

1. Select transfer type
2. Section A — Waste description
3. Section B — Transferor
4. Section C — Transferee
5. Section D — Transfer details
6. Signatures
7. Complete

1. Opening the PreviewEditor

Navigate to Notes → One-Off Notes → New Note (or Season Ticket → New). The PreviewEditor opens with a dark title bar at the top and five section cards below. A Completion Sidebar on the right tracks which sections are done and provides the Draft and Complete buttons.

2. Auto-save

The note is auto-saved a few seconds after each change. The cloud icon in the title bar shows the save state: a green check-circle means saved, a spinning indicator means saving in progress, and a red cloud-slash means a save error occurred. Use the "Draft" button to save and exit manually. Notes saved as drafts can be retrieved from the One-Off Notes or Season Tickets list.

3. Section completion rules

Each section card shows a green tick when its minimum requirements are met. Section A is complete when it has a waste description, at least one EWC code, a quantity, and at least one containment type selected. Section B is complete when it has a transferor name (or is set to deferred). Section C is complete when it has a transferee name or company (or is set to deferred). Section D is complete when it has a transfer address. Signatures is complete when both parties have signed (or one party is deferred).

4. Completing the note

When all required sections are complete, the "Complete" button in the sidebar turns green. Click it, then confirm in the confirmation dialog ("Once complete, this note cannot be changed."). The note is locked, assigned a reference number, and you are redirected to the note detail page.

5. Other toolbar actions

The title bar provides additional actions: Print (opens browser print dialog with the formatted WTN), Save as Template (prompts for a template name and saves for reuse), and Delete (permanently removes the draft after confirmation). Delete is only available on draft notes.

Completing is irreversible
Once a note is marked Complete, it cannot be edited. Review all sections carefully before clicking Complete.
Use templates for repeat jobs
Save any note as a template from the toolbar. Templates pre-fill Section A, B, C, and D data, so creating the next similar note takes under a minute.
Common Mistakes
Forgetting to set the transfer type before filling sections — changing the type later can overwrite Section B or C with your profile data.
Clicking Complete before signatures are added — the note will be valid but unsigned; you will need to chase signatures separately.
