I spent years working in the waste collection industry. I know exactly what it feels like to be sitting in a cab at the end of a long day, still needing to fill out another form.
The problem
The same note.
Written out.
Again.
Every collection needed a Waste Transfer Note. Every note meant filling in the same company details, the same EWC codes, the same addresses, by hand, on paper, in triplicate.
Then posting or emailing copies. Then hoping the customer actually got theirs. Then filing your copy somewhere you'd actually be able to find it two years later when the Environment Agency came knocking.
It was tedious, error-prone, and completely unnecessary. There's a better way.
Why we built this
Digital WTNs have been legal since 2011.
Nobody told the industry.
The Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2011 explicitly permit digital waste transfer notes and electronic signatures. Paper has never been required. But try telling that to the industry — most waste carriers were still doing everything by hand well into the 2020s.
I got tired of waiting for someone else to build a proper tool for it. Something simple. Something that worked on a phone. Something that didn't require a PhD in software to figure out. Something that cost less than a round of coffees per month.
